from 78 reviewsIt was so nice holding my lovely PDF/Ebook titled "Hand-Sewing Stitch Guide".
Reading through with beautiful illustrations sprinkled here and there and the lovely words of guidance--all made with love. Handmade with care. The ideas and possibilities of creating something completely by hand and the sweet positive feelings within. Thank you so much for caring and creating about the world we live in.
A very helpful handbook for any beginner. I would definitely recommend it.
This seam ripper is great quality. I love it! Looks like it is made in Japan.
I really enjoyed making this pattern, from the drafting to the sewing stage. With all the straight lines, I had been worried about how the garment would fit under the arms, especially as my shoulder slope is quite square -- but the fit was great! The final garment (I chose view A) was very comfy and draped well in the merino jersey I used. I am looking forward to playing with the hack kit too.
Note: I am a 5'3" cis gendered woman with a sewing cup B bust/chest. I chose the size that corresponded with my bust measurement.
I do like your ZW patterns, they have added style elements that are to my taste.
This was my first time having the patience to follow a pattern to sew a garment for myself. I’m SO glad I did. I did the view 2 top with gathered sleeve and cuff in an olive green double gauze. I didn’t cut the bottom of the top well but I don’t think it’s super obvious when worn. I JUST LOVE IT!! I can’t wait to do more renditions of this with a ruffled sleeve in a dress and different patterns and colors.
I made the Photinia Blouse with long sleeves (View 2) in the Merchant & Mills Felicity Pink Linen. The pattern was easy to follow and the cutting directions were straight forward, despite my cat's attempts to sabotage me. I think that if I make it again, I'll only make the amount of bias tape that I need rather than do the continuous bias tape. That's just a preference thing based on how I tend to use any leftover bits of fabric though. My finished result is super cute and I'm really happy with how it turned out!
Notes about my process:
Due to the width of my fabric, my sleeves are slightly longer. I decided to leave them like that rather than cutting them shorter to match the measurement in the cutting diagram.
I used a mixture of seam finishes (clean finish, flat felling, and French seam).
My favourite way to deal with gathering is to use a thread with high contrast to make it easier for me to see and remove. For this blouse, I removed the thread before finishing the neckline binding (step 9) and before the edge stitching at the cuffs (step 21) with no issues.
It looks like a great top, so very cute but I haven't attempted to sew it yet. I expect it to be totally adorable.
I bought a ready-to-wear version of this pattern from the shop and loved these pants even more than I expected! They are flattering and fit me perfectly. I love the high waist and the wider leg. Highly recommend based on the finished product and keen to make more versions myself!
Beautifully made and exactly as described. The fabric is even more lovely in real life and turns out to be one of my fave things to wear!
Exactly as described. Love!
So fun and a great starter zero waste project
This was a great deal for someone like me who tends to have everything scattered everywhere. The tools are quality, just what I would buy separately. I really enjoy shopping with new businesses and I wish the best for Fibr & Cloth Studio.
